Lara Wetlands is a land of plenty.  Spend some time at one of our tranquil shady unpowered camping spots surrounded by Wetlands abundant with birds & wildlife, a photographers joy. Enjoy a campfire and star gazing at night, whilst enjoying the sounds of the nightlife. All size vans, tents, camper trailers and motor homes are welcome.

Lara Wetlands is a 15,000 acre station stay and is 28 kms south of Barcaldine from our highway sign or 78kms north of Blackall from our highway sign.  A further 13km from the Landsborough Highway in on our access road (red sand) brings you to Lara Station.

Sunrise and Sunset’s are just amazing with the reflections over the water. There are unlimited tranquil shady unpowered camping areas around the wetlands, that welcomes all van sizes, mobile homes and tents.

The red sandy loam to chocolate soil country is mainly lightly timbered with box, sandalwood and gidyea. There are also areas of semi-open country. Native and buffel grasses are found on the river flats off Alice and Patrick creeks.

Water is supplied throughout the property from the Lara Artesian Bore. There is also a dam and semi-permanent holes in the Patrick and Alice Rivers.

Lara Station offers excellent infrastructure, unlimited water and is strategically located in the heart of the central west.

There is a magnificent semi-renovated, six bedroom homestead built in 1912 with sweeping verandah’s on three sides. The homestead is part of the Lara Wetlands Tourist Enterprise.

Lara can run 500 head of Breeders, has undercover cattle yards and is fully fenced.

Other improvements include a machinery shed, workshops and numerous storage sheds;  Quality steel cattle yards with under cover crush and branding cradle area compliment the property.

Our tourist season runs from April to end September each year. We are closed through the summer months to camping, however we host larger groups and functions, weddings etc. To arrange please contact us on 0457 661 243 or email larawetlands@gmail.com
